We also supported UEM Group’s English Literacy Programme (UELP) from April 2012 to March 2015 in collaboration with the PINTAR Foundation and British Council. The programme aims to strengthen English teaching and learning through capacity-building.
Under this effort, we adopted 10 schools (3 in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, 3 in Perak, and 4 in Kedah) where we organised the Learn English Family (LEF) Workshops to encourage parents to read with their primary school children.
Through this programme, we achieved RM54.0 million in Social Return on Investment, based on an initial investment of RM3.0 million. The programme contributed to the development of 116 teachers and has benefited more than 15,000 students.
Additionally, the workshops benefited close to 400 parents, and were conducted by trained volunteers who are also our employees.
